Lauren, let me take time to tell you two sweet stories from our day today. This afternoon as I was putting you into your crib for a nap, you said, "I need my Book of Prayers". We had just read from this book, so I handed it to you, and you opened it up and started "reading" before you went to sleep.
Then, as you were getting out of the bathtub this evening, you sang, "On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand". This is a great hymn that I learned growing up in church and have been singing to you for the last several weeks. Tonight you sang a verse for me for the first time! Friday, July 30, 2010

My Little Picasso
At your little table this morning, Lauren, you were drawing. I went in to take a look at your artwork and noticed that you had drawn a straight line on one side of your paper. "What is it?", you asked me. Guessing, I replied-"a snake". You said, "No, an elephant!". I love your big imagination. Picasso probably saw things in his artwork that others couldn't see either!

A Visit to the Library
Lauren, today was our first visit to the local library. This seemed like the perfect place to visit because you love to read and look at books. As we arrived, it didn't take you long to find a little friend. You were very interested in the other children at the library. In fact, this little girl was sitting in one of the soft chairs in the children's area, and you went right up to her and "reclined" beside of her and started talking as if you known her for years!
We listened to story time. Two very enthusiastic ladies read to a room full of attentive children. We sang songs and danced. And we also saw a puppet show about " I am the best at being me ". You loved the puppets and wanted to meet them after the show was over. We were able to let you "visit" with Mr. Frog and Mrs. Fish a short time before we went on to another activity.
Next, we went back to the children's area for a treasure hunt at the "beach". You were excited to find three shells to put into your bag. Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Two Little Ladies!
Lauren, your love of the outdoors brings along with it an interest in bugs! Tonight out at the garden, we found a "spottie, dottie, lady"- a ladybug. She was enjoying an evening walk on our blueberry plants. Of course, you wanted to hold her right away. Daddy placed this red and black spotted lady in your hand. She sat as long as she could, and then she opened up her wings and prepared to take flight, as she had other plans for the evening. And then she was gone. She flew away into the big open world!

Mealtime Prayers
Our sweet little Lauren praying before lunch. Actually, a couple of bites were missing from the bread before we said our prayers. But that's what happens when you have a hungry two year old! And when we ask you to pray this is what you say, "Blessings to God, Blessings to God, Blessings to God". How precious are the prayers of children.
Caught In the Act!!!
Yesterday, Lauren, when we were at Walmart in the check out line, you spotted your favorite candy- M&Ms. Without hesitation, you put the candy in our basket. Mommy thought you did really well during our shopping trip and deserved a treat! So, I let the bag of M&M's stay in our cart. By the way, you pronounce the name of this candy- emmy emmy's. After we got home from the store, we ate lunch and forgot about your candy. So tonight, after supper you mentioned your emmy emmy's ! Mommy put half of the bag of candy in a cup for you to eat, and I left the rest of the candy on the counter out of your reach to give to you after you finished the first part of the bag. So, then, your daddy calls me into the kitchen, and I see a little girl standing on her tippy toes reaching to the back of the counter eating M&M's!
We quietly watch you eating M&M's and suddenly you turn around and say, " I eating emmy emmy's without asking!". You bring laughter into our home and into our hearts everyday. We love you even when you eat M&M's without asking for them! Tuesday, July 6, 2010
First Ponytail!!!!
My baby in her first ponytail!!!! Initially, Lauren, it was bows in your hair that you protested. But, it didn't take long for you to get adjusted to wearing a pretty bow. In hindsight, I probably should have tried some time ago to put your hair up in a ponytail, but your hair was a little too short. Now that it is really getting longer, Mommy wants to put it up (ponytails are so cute), but you are not so sure about this ponytail idea. So this morning, while you were playing in your room, preoccupied with toys, I decided it was time. Ok, I know it's a little rough around the edges, but I was working quickly, so that you wouldn't notice!!!
What a cute ponytail! We looked at it in the mirror. First, you asked me where your hair went- you are such a funny little girl! And, then you laughed and giggled twirling your hair between your fingers over and over!!! Sunday, July 4, 2010
Fourth of July Weekend
Great fourth of July weekend. Lots of family time. Daddy off from work for 5 days. Yeah!!! Family, friends, hotdogs, park, blueberry picking, Yarborough's ice cream, and mommy's work called her off due to low census. Such a fun filled weekend. We are so blessed.
